Molly's Sketchbook: Fabric Window Valentines
These valentines show off the lovely Yuwa Live Life fabric collection beautifully. The embroidered edges give them a handmade from-the-heart feeling. Don't forget to check out my Crocheted Valentines for more ideas too! --Molly
Fabric Window Valentines: Materials
This is an ideal project to use up your scraps. Here is what I used:
- 1/4 yard each of seven prints from the beautiful new Live Life collection by Yuwa
- 3 different colors of Valdani pearl cotton embroidery thread
- An assortment of pre-cut 3.5-inch x 5-inch cards or card stock in neutral colors.
- paper scissors
- fabric scissors
- Clear tape
- Embroidery needle
Fabric Window Valentines: How to

Make a 1 3/4-inch heart shaped template out of scrap paper. Click here to see this step in more detail.
Fold a card in half and center the template.
Trace the template.

Cut out the heart shape from the card.
Cut a roughly 2-inch square piece of fabric. Iron it if it's wrinkled.

Working on the inside of the card, place the fabric right side up on top of the cut out.

Tape the fabric down making sure that it covers the heart cut out entirely.

Working from the outside of the card with an embroidery needle and contrasting embroidery thread make a running stitch around the edge of the heart shape.

Once you've gotten all the way around tie and snip your ends then tape them down.

All Done!
